CAMPER CODE OF CONDUCT

Parents, Grandparents, Guardians: read the following 3 times and commit it to memory, then read it out loud to your child another 3 times, have them repeat it back to you… out loud.

Number 1 – Show respect to other campers and staff, and take & follow the staff requests and instructions.

Number 2 – Never-ever use abusive or foul language.

Number 3 – Do not cause bodily harm to yourself, to other campers, or to staff members.

Number 4 – Do not damage, abuse, or break equipment, supplies, facilities or the belongings of other campers. In fact, don’t touch the belongings of your fellow campers unless they give to you permission, then treat it with kindness.

Number 5 – Always ask a counselor’s permission to leave the group or area. Do not wander away without an adult having granted you permission and they know EXACTLY where you are going.

DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES

The purpose of discipline is to help a child develop self-control and learn to assume responsibility for his/her own actions. It is also necessary for the safety of all participants and staff. We use corrective statements and “time- out” to redirect negative behavior. Recurring or major problems will be documented through an incident report and discussed with the parent/guardian. Campers may be suspended or dismissed from the Summer Camp for any inappropriate behaviors deemed unacceptable by the Pickens County Recreation Department staff.

PROCEDURES

PAYMENT

Payments are made at the front desk of Pickens County Recreation Department. Payments are due the Monday of each week your camper attends. If your camper is joining us a day at a time, or mid-week, payment is due upon drop-off. Balances that not paid in full by the end of the week will result in privileges to attend summer camp being suspended. We are happy to work with you, but we ask that other payment arrangements be made in advance.

DROP OFF

Campers should enter through the main entrance. For safety, all other outside doors throughout the facility will remain closed and locked. Parents may drop their campers off at the main entrance, or they may come inside to say goodbye. Campers may not be dropped off until 7:00 am, when a staff member is there to greet them.

PICK UP

Sign Out: Campers must be signed out by a parent or authorized person. All individuals authorized to pick-up your child will be required to show a picture ID.

Authorized Pick-Ups: The registration form asks for names of people who are authorized to pick your child up from camp. IMPORTANT: Campers will only be released to the people listed on the Authorized Pick-Up List, unless the parent contacts the camp director to make other arrangements.

PERSONAL ITEMS

It is recommended that NO personal items be brought to summer camp. Pickens County Recreation Department is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen items that your child brings to camp. If your child brings a device or toys from home, there will be a time allotted for free play; however, during all other activities, personal items, such as electronic devices and toys brought from home, will not be allowed. This will give campers time to play and socialize with other campers without being distracted.

POOL SAFETY

In order to facilitate supervision and safety for all our campers, only children that are able to swim independently or have proper flotation devices will be allowed to use the deep end of the pool. All other campers will use the shallow end of the pool. Counselors and certified lifeguards will be supervising campers at all times while at the pool. Please provide sunscreen, a bathing suit, a towel, and pool shoes (optional) for your child daily, so they can enjoy pool time.

DRESS CODE

Our days will be spent having fun, being active, getting messy, playing, and enjoying arts and crafts. Your camper’s clothes will get dirty! Please dress them in clothes for fun and play. At Pickens County Recreation Department, we ask that your camper wear closed toe shoes, so they can be safe and enjoy playing outside and in the gym. We also ask that you keep a change of clothes in your camper’s backpack in the event that it might be needed.
